Absheron water main
Supply and installation of an 18 km water main with Ø630 mm PE100 SDR11 pipes.

For this project, Ø630 mm PE100 SDR11 pipes were manufactured for an 18 km water main, joined by butt fusion, hydraulically tested and handed over.
Population growth and new residential districts in Absheron had outgrown the existing water main. The old steel line suffered frequent failures, and corrosion was driving up water losses. The client needed a long-life, low-maintenance solution that could be installed quickly.
The route crossed dry, rocky and saline ground with changes in elevation along the way. The line had to be commissioned on a tight schedule without interrupting the existing supply. Under these conditions the pipe had to withstand both corrosion and ground movement.
Polinet manufactured Ø630 mm PE100 SDR11 pipes and delivered them to site in phases. The pipes were joined on site by butt fusion, with every weld recorded. Our engineers supported the contractor throughout installation and carried out quality control.
The 18 km water main passed its hydraulic test and was handed over. Fused joints keep the risk of leaks along the line to a minimum, while HDPE's corrosion resistance ensures reliable service for decades.
